Sharing Collections in WorldCat:
Using Digital Collections Gateway
Geri Ingram, OCLC Digital Collections Services
Thursday, April 4, 2013
2:00–3:00 pm MDT / 1:00–2:00 pm PDT
One of the goals of the Digital Collection Services group at OCLC is to improve the visibility and discovery of the resources managed in CONTENTdm, as well as in other repository systems. Geri will talk about the Digital Collection Gateway, a free tool first developed as an easy way to register CONTENTdm metadata with worldcat.org. In 2009, the Gateway was improved to open it up to other systems such as Dspace, Digital Commons, ePrints, Fedora, etc.
Geri is responsible for outreach and training for the Gateway, as well as support for users of the CONTENTdm digital collection management software. So as long as you manage an open access repository that complies with the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting, then this orientation is for you.
