Joining MWDL as a Member Repository

The Mountain West Digital Library currently has 19 Member Repositories. We welcome additional repositories to join our network and to take advantage of MWDL's on-ramp to the Digital Public Library of America. Through the harvesting and aggregation of metadata that we do, we can expand the access to your digital collections via the MWDL portal and the DPLA portal.

We also welcome all partners whose collections are hosted on Member Repositories to participate in MWDL task forces and committees. Come work with us to establish common standards and best practices for the region in digital collections and digital repository management. All Collection Partners meet twice a year and task forces work together virtually online throughout the year. We offer occasional training in topics of interest to digital library managers, and we maintain a listserve and social media platforms that help provide support for the growth of digital library techniques and skills.

MWDL's membership structure went into effect July 1, 2015, in accordance with the recommendations of the MWDL Advisory Committee, which was charged by the Utah Academic Library Consortium Council to establish a plan for long-term sustainability and expanded governance of MWDL. Each Member Repository is asked to pay annual dues and a one-time set-up fee for establishing the metadata harvest. Collections Partners with collections on that server may choose to share metadata for harvest (at no additional fee) and participate in the collaborative.

Repository dues of $7500 are assessed annually. Twelve-month membership cycles start on either January 1 or July 1. The one-time harvesting set-up fee is $2000.

Please review these documents and then contact us about your interest in joining. We look forward to sharing your digital collections for broader access!
