Shipler Commercial Photographers
The Shipler photographs are an excellent collection of Salt Lake City and Utah scenes. Most of the photos were taken by Bill and Harry Shipler for their studio in downtown Salt Lake. The photos cover the period from about 1903 to 1980 and document a wide range of daily activities.
Peoples of Utah
The photographs that make up the Peoples of Utah Collection were gathered by Helen Papanikolas and the Division of State History for the 1976 release of the Peoples of Utah book. The book celebrates Utah's cultural diversity and the contributions various ethnic groups made to Utah and the areas in which they settled.
The photographs in the Classified Photographs Collection cover some of our most frequently requested subjects. You'll find individual or family portraits, early commercial and public buildings, cities and towns, railroads and mining, and theaters and resorts. The images contain subject matter from the late 1800s to the 1950s.
- Salt Lake Telegram Collection
A Salt Lake City newspaper that was printed daily from January 1902 to August 1952. This digital collection will eventually house the entire run, but at present it holds most years from 1902-1921.
