DESCRIPTION:Theme: Preservision: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going\nThis year’s Preservation West Symposium will be held November 5-6\, 2026. Last year’s Symposium was wonderful and we look forward to connecting with many from throughout the MWDL network again this year. A call for presentations is currently open through August 7\, 2026. Notice of acceptance will occur by September 4\, 2026. Read on for more details. This year’s theme invites us to reflect on how far we’ve come as a field\, as institutions\, and as professionals. It’s a chance to celebrate our growth and recognize preservation as the dynamic\, diverse discipline it is. \nWhy Present?\nPresenting at the Preservation West Symposium is an opportunity to share your expertise\, spark conversation\, and help shape the future of the field. We are seeking passionate\, knowledgeable professionals to contribute insights across preservation domains including conservation\, digital preservation\, audiovisual preservation\, digital imaging\, and collection care. \nPresentation Format\nProposals can be anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. Formats may include PowerPoint\, pre-recorded video\, hands-on demonstration\, or other approaches suited to your topic. \nHow to Submit\nAll proposals must be submitted as a PDF and include: \n\nPresentation title\nA short summary briefly describing the focus of the presentation\nBackground on the presenter’s involvement in the field of preservation

DESCRIPTION:The UALC Professional Development Committee (PDC) is calling for proposals for the Fall Professional Development Retreat!  \n\n\nThis year’s retreat\, “Community and Collaboration: Pursuing Connection in the Age of Technology\,” will be held at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Taylorsville Redwood Campus on Friday\, October 16th\, 2026.  \n\n\nThe UALC PDC looking for presentations\, panels\, discussions\, or active learning opportunities of 30 or 60 minutes or 15-minute lightning talks. Presentations may be made in-person or remotely and will be recorded.  \n\n\n Proposals should suit the theme of “Community and Collaboration: Pursuing Connection in the Age of Technology” which may include (but should not be limited to) sessions about:  \n\n\n\nProviding library services which help to build communities in person and/or online \n\n\n\n\nCollaborating with staff\, students\, faculty\, and/or colleagues in unique or inventive ways \n\n\n\n\nConnecting patrons with innovative technological services \n\n\n\n\nBalancing ethical\, moral\, privacy\, and/or environmental considerations when engaging with technologies such as AI \n\n\n\nWe recognize the value of lived experience in addition to other forms of expertise\, and encourage creative proposals from all library personnel\, including student employees and members of traditionally underrepresented groups.  \n\n\nPlease submit your proposal on or before Friday\, June 19\, 2026\, at https://tinyurl.com/UALCPD2026Retreat.  \n\n\nSelected speakers will be notified around August 15\, 2026. SUMMARY:CfP: Fall 2026 Utah Oral History Grants
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nThe collaborative Utah Humanities/Utah Historical Society Oral History Program supports and deepens oral history work statewide. The goal of this program is to collect and transcribe oral histories\, deposit the recorded interviews and transcripts with the Utah Historical Society Collections and other public deposition sites (such as local libraries)\, and make the content of the collected oral histories available to the general public through live\, public programming. \nOverview\nGrants provide up to $3\,000 for oral history research\, interviews\, and transcription costs. Projects must be completed in a 12-month period. Extensions may be requested in writing. Projects must involve an oral history scholar. The Utah Historical Society can provide recommendations if needed. Projects must include at least one public program. The program is administered jointly by Utah Humanities and the Utah Historical Society. \nFor more information and application details\, see the program website. Proposal first drafts are due by August 1\, 2026.
