Logan Polk Directories

City directories are excellent sources of genealogical and demographic information as well as documentation of how a town’s geography has changed over time. The most recognizable name in city directories is Polk. Ralph Lane Polk founded the R.L. Polk Company in Detroit, Michigan in 1870 and his first volumes included towns along the Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad. He expanded his scope throughout the late 19th century and by 1890 was producing Utah directories. The first recorded Logan Polk Directory is from 1904. Special Collections & Archives has historic holdings for a number of Utah cities as well as maintaining current subscriptions for Logan and Ogden. This digital collection includes several of the historic directories for Logan, generally including Cache Valley addresses as well. Today R.L. Polk has a diversified portfolio of products related to business and marketing intelligence, but they continue to annually publish more than 1,300 city directories, compiling rich demographic data about American households.
