May network news

Hello everyone! We can’t believe it’s already May, but with temps soaring and flowers blooming everywhere, it may be true… 😉
MWDL was a virtual exhibitor at RootsTech 2025 and experienced a big increase in traffic from familysearch.org. Visitors popped up from all over, even as far away as Australia! Below is a look at our traffic from March 5-8, during the main days of the conference.

Traffic to mwdl.org, March 5-9, 2025
Thanks to all who attended our first-ever Collections Roundup on April 14! We heard from Michelle Gollehon (Utah Historical Society), Kendall Hallberg and Jamie Weeks (Weber State University), and Rachel Jane Wittman (University of Utah) about collections from their respective institutions that joined MWDL since last fall. While this one wasn’t recorded, we plan to record future Roundups for posterity.
And, you can always see our newest collections on our About page! We added this feature in early 2025.
MWDL’s Governing Body will hold its semi-annual meeting on Thursday, May 22 at 2PM Mountain/1PM Pacific. We want to thank outgoing members Julia Simic (Oregon Digital) and Emily Boss (UN Reno) for their service these past three years, and especially Emily for serving as Governing Body Chair since 2023! We’ll be replacing these two seats representing Member Repositories with new 3-year terms beginning July 1, 2025 and selecting a new Chair from amongst our sitting members.
In other news, DPLA continues its transition to Free Library of Philadelphia and early planning has begun for an in-person DPLAFest to be held in October 2025 at Chicago Public Library. This will be the first DPLAFest since 2019. FLP library and foundation staff have begun attending routine DPLA network meetings like the Network Council and Open Board meetings.
