Orem (UT) History Books

The area now known as Orem, UT was the wandering grounds of mammoths and the hunting and fishing grounds of the Utes. It became part of the nation’s westward expansion led by trappers and mountain men followed by the Mormon pioneers. The building of irrigation canals changed the landscape of “Provo Bench” from sagebrush to orchards. Homes followed, and in 1919 the story still being written is under the name of The City of Orem.

This collection contains the following publications about the history and historical sites of Orem:

  • Sagebrush to steel: an Orem centennial history 1861-1961
  • It happened in Orem: A bicentennial history of Orem, Utah
  • Orem: historic homes and sites of interest
  • Early Orem homesteader’s profiles 1870-1900
  • City of Orem: a centennial benchmark
