Happy New Year! January has flown by, and before we delve into deep winter 2026, we wanted to share a few fun stats about MWDL’s 2025! Think of it like a Spotify Wrapped playlist for your eyes. 😉

By the numbers:

  • The most-visited collection landing page was Oregon State University’s Oregon State University Commencement Programs – go Beavers!
  • The most-search term in the MWDL search portal was “Orem High” [Orem High School, Orem, UT]. (The Orem (UT) School Yearbooks were the third most-visited collection landing page. Rawr, Golden Tigers!)
  • University of Oregon’s items in Wikimedia Commons were reused in 30 Wikipedia articles in numerous languages, including English, French, Cebuano, Russian, Spanish, and more. The most-reused item was a portrait of American composer John Jacob Niles taken by American photographer Doris Ulmann.
  • Continuing on the global theme, our site had visitors from 93 countries in total; the top 5 countries were the United States, Singapore, China, Germany and Canada.
  • We added 13 new collections from 4 partners: Utah Department of Cultural and Community Engagement; Utah Valley University, Fulton Library; University of Utah, J. Willard Marriott Library; and Weber State University, Stewart Library. Thanks to everyone for sharing these!
  • MWDL has over 1.1 million items in Digital Public Library of America, and DPLA is our top referring site to the MWDL search portal.

And that’s a wrap! As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary year (yes, it’s true!), we look forward to more collections, collaboration, and community throughout 2026 and beyond.
