Cedar Breaks National Monument

Cedar Breaks National Monument is a natural amphitheater, stetching 3 miles across with a depth of over 2,000 feet. Cedar Breaks is located in southern Utah near Cedar City. Uplift and erosion formed the canyon over millions of years. The rocks of the eroded canyon contain iron and manganese in various combinations, providing brillant colors that led Indians to call it the Circle of Painted Cliffs. This photograph collection is of the early work that went into building the infra-structure of Cedar Breaks National Monument.
