The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, housed under the Global Studies Institute, is a research and outreach center devoted to promoting understanding of the Asia-Pacific region. Its primary aim is to foster collaborative and individual research engaging Asia-interested scholars from the UO, the nation, and around the world. The Center is distinctive in terms of its geographic scope with programmatic focus on East Asia, South East Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific Islands.

Collected from 1910 to around 1925, the�n_satsu�images in the University of Oregon�s collection cover a wide range of themes and topics including landscapes, depictions of figures from Edo-period popular fiction and theatre, shrines and temples, seasonal celebrations, mythical creatures, firefighters, Japanese toys and collectibles, and prints showing the activities of the�n_satsu-kai�[exchange clubs] members themselves.
